Scientists from The John Hopkins University published an article in the journal Cell Stem Cell revealing that activating a certain cell-signaling pathway in all mammals not only promotes skin healing, but also has the potential to stimulate rejuvenation in aging. When skin tissue is damaged it releases double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) which activates this pathway to promote skin regeneration. This process is a rare example of organogenesis in mammals and dsRNA may also have the possibility to be directly used for rejuvenation therapy.
